Family Vegetable Garden
We transformed a ramshackle brick garden shed in Goring into a fruit and vegetable patch, reclaiming about 90% of the old materials.
Family Vegetable Garden
Neil came up with the quirky idea of reusing the old shed, which the owners had decided to demolish. We also used paving slabs that were left over from a previous garden project, so very few new materials were used and very little was thrown away.

Rather than working from plans, Neil had a vision of how the garden would look and we designed it as we went along, making the best use of a mixture of old bricks in different sizes, both imperial and metric.

Three sides of old shed were dismantled brick by brick, and the materials used to build brick cloches against the remaining back wall.

The lids from the cloches were made from 12mm frosted Perspex sheets, hinged at the back and with a simple hook above so they can be held safely in place when open.

The trellis along the front and back is carefully positioned so that from a distance it almost appears to be a solid wall.

This environmentally-friendly project took less than a week to transform a broken-down shed into an attractive and practical vegetable garden for the whole family to enjoy.
